What is Augmented Reality (AR) ?

Augmented Reality (AR) is a term for a live direct or indirect view of a physical real-world environment whose elements are augmented by virtual computer-generated imagery. It is related to a more general concept called mediated reality in which a view of reality is modified (possibly even diminished rather than augmented) by a computer. (Via: Wikipedia.org)

5 Tips for Building New Web Site

1. Watch your speed.

Web site speed is the time (in seconds) needed for a user to download and view your start page at 28.8 Kbps or using a dial-up connection. Many people use 56 K modems, ISDN, or leased lines, but a lot do not. So design your Web site for the lowest common denominator. Any more than ten seconds and you’ll lose them. If your page is slow to download, cut down the graphics, clever Java and dynamic HTML effects, or use a GIF or JPG optimiser to compress your graphics and reduce download time. Good graphics programs allow you to optimise graphics (static and animated) for fast loading, often at the expense of quality. But does your GIF logo need to be in 16 million colours when 16 will do? It will be smaller, faster, and probably just as effective.

10 Steps to Build Loyalty and Return Visits

1. Reward loyalty.

Give discounts for repeat purchases or simply send a “thank you” E-mail after three, five, or ten responses from the same customer.

2. Build a sense of belonging to a community.

If a visitor relates to your Web site and feels part of a community of interest, that visitor will come back often. A forum gives and interactive feel and encourages returns.

3. You might consider adding a chat room.

This is only a good idea in high-traffic Web sites, as an empty chat room gives a bad image and discourages returns. Try advertising specific times when you, at least, will be there (6.00 PM – 8.00 PM, three nights a week, for instance). You could be on-line to your chat room at the same times as you are uploading or downloading or submitting your URL to new search.
